The Musical Comedy theatre although in a separate location is part of the Leipzig Opera House. The building dates back to 1713 and inside is architecturally very impressive.

Once used as a restaurant it was converted into a music hall around 1912. After the destruction of the Opera House, this became the temporary home for the Leipzig Opera.
