Leipzig St. Thomas Choir
0 ReviewsThe St. Thomas Boys Choir date back to the year 1212 and is the oldest cultural establishment of the city of Leipzig. Today the boys, whose fees are mostly paid for by the state, come from all over the country, upholding a tradition which is nearly as old as the city itself.
The children have a strict routine of choir practice, music lessons and off course normal school work. The children still live in the boarding school and attend St Thomas Church, and dress code is the tradition dark-blue sailor-style uniforms. The most well known Thomascantor was Johann Sebastian Bach, who worked here from 1723 to 1750.
